thanks all for the tips and advise. i am working on my masters in doing things the hard way, so i thought this might fit right in. i usually can get the bead broke loose, but struggle with getting the old tire off especially the second side. most of the times it's a old hard tire off a old rim that's been in place for years. don't worry, i'm not planning to start doing it every time i buy a new tire- bring it home and mount it myself! it's just something i want to be able to do when i need to since i have the stuff. thanks again.
