So those gaps are on a straight edge, not on the head?
I would try it. Mine always look like they are way out and then they work fine with no leaks. put the top and buttom together properly, then bolt it to the head with a gasket, I think it will work fine. I did have a local machine shop chase the threads that hold the top and bottom together, as well as get me new bolts, and new studs with bronze nuts for the exhuast. They also lubricated the heat riser valve after cleaning it up.
