Hy Achipmunk, did you check the sending unit first with the ohmeter? If you hook the power up to the gauge and the ground to the gauge frame, and then very momentarily ground the gauge sending unit terminal to ground, the gauge should move through its full range of motion, if it doesn't the gauge is faulty. I can't stress enough that this connection should be very quick and very short duration. Make those checks and get back to us, good luck.
