I did not know that there is a different transmission bolt pattern with the NV4500 and that it needs a special bellhousing, I thought it would bolt up to the old cast iron bellhouseings, as I don't have the transmission yet to know.
I don't know yet if it's worth the work of converting it over to a NV4500 from a SM465, I do a great deal of hwy driving and would like to have the OD to save fuel.
In place of that the only other option for the truck is the manual new process OD 4x4 tranny.
The problem is I heard there not the best for pulling heavy loads they tend to leak out oil another problem is they have no granny gear and are considered a light duty transmission according to what my local autowrecking yard told me, however first gear on them is 3.21 or something close to it.
Now as far as them having a different bellhousing is the NV4500 different in the 1991 to 1995 years or are you talking about the later years that they were built.?
The later ones made after 1995 look different on EBay then the early years.
