You need power to the coil and to the starter. I assume you still have the foot starter. If you connect the battery to the starter, and run a jumper to the coil the motor will run if all the other ignition wires to the plugs are in and the coil is connected to the distributor. This will not charge the battery, but you should have enough in the battery to move the rig around. To shut off remove the jumper to the coil.
