Back in the late '60s, I had a very tired '54 half ton.I was going to college and on a very tight budget. I bought a rusted out '58 4 door from my aunt for $10.00. It only had 10,000 miles but all very short runs. I swapped out the engine and it ran like a top- for about 10 miles. At that point, the lifters started clacking so loud that I thought the engine was going to jump out of the truck. An old friend told me of a trick that he used. He said to pull the lifters apart and turn the plunger upside down and adjust as solids (.006-.013). It worked great. It had the slight click of a solid but never got any worse. Just thought I would share this bit of info. Don
