If the motor is mounted to the original bellhousing and mounts it cant be foreward. I'd compare the front mount 'plate' to the truck type mount. As mentioned, check the carb for level, that's the best check. These motors changed in the early 50s with regard to how they sit in the vehicle as the bodies styles changed.
