Those GMC V6's are built to last. Have a read on this site for the most comprehensive discussion of them. Sign up and you can use their discussion board that is a terrific resource. I have a 1966 GMC with the 305 V6. The advice above is very good. A fuel clean up, tune up, oil change and a compression check are very much in order. Once you have that information, let us know how it went and we can advise from there.
