They were used to secure the distributor mounting and the hole was line bored afterwards in the factory.
To remove the oil pump, remove the pan and the plumbing to the pump. Then remove the set screw on the oil pump shaft that is up near the inside wall of the block. The screw has a locking nut at the base. | | |
