retired wrench's instruction will work fine.
If you have the original-style illuminated lighter, it would be wired as described
in this 1951 accessory installation manual. The lighter lamp wire to the tail-lamp terminal on the light switch, and the element/case wire to a terminal on the rear of the light switch.
