Thanks for all the replies! Yes the trans is a muncie with the long tail trans so it slips right in without having to shorten the drive shaft. It has two or three of the gear teeth chipped a little on the front of several of the gears. I dont want to install it if is going to be noisy. Maybe my best route would be to replace the gears. The overdrive I have in the truck now works ok except it tends to jump out of high overdrive as I go up hills. I am trying to install a spring on the ouyside shifting arm but getting the tension just right has eluded me so far. It difficult finding anyone to work on these trans so if anyone knows a mechanic near Tyler TX please let me know.
