What I am curious about, is driving, and getting parts. I would think that in general, they share most things with the other Big Bolts, other than manifolds, carbs, and other assorted stuff.
The list of "other assorted parts" is substantial, depending on the GMC/Chevrolet and the year. Examples: most cab/body parts, inner fenders, floor covers, radiator/frame, some switches and gauge parts, some seat parts. The parts that are different are quite rare.I am also curious as to the height of cab above the frame (where the bed would be). Overall height as well.
The top of the COE cab is about 12" higher than the frame compared to a standard cab. Add to that at least 4"-6" wider/taller diameter tires. You're feel like you are sitting on top of the world. Also, height of the bed. I can't see it being lower than my one ton, and its high enough at 42".
Mine is at least 8" higher than 42".Also, do you sit straight ahead in the cab? Or do you have to put your legs at a funny angle to clear the engine.
The engine is underneath a floor that has about a 3" hump in the middle. This does not impact on the driver's or passenger's leg room.Anybody put a bunch of miles on one of these and care to comment?
Not yet.I would think, that with the lower rear end, it would still be comfortable to cruise at 45mph? I don't generally go any faster than that anyway.
My 54/55 GMC 2-ton COE cruises fine at 45 mph. I think my self-imposed cruise-limit will be about 200 miles.
