Yes the trans will have to come out. I presume you have an original driveline. If so you will have to disconnect the ball housing at the rear of the trans. This could be a long answer so my best advice to you is to get the shop manual. Step by step is almost in there. In that book they say to remove the trans through the floor. Ain't easy! I went the other route. I undid the trans mount and undid the crossmember (4 bolts each side). Remove the cross member and then let the torque tube down to the floor after undoing the ball housing and u-joint. WARNING! BE CAREFUL with the torque tube. Mine was under tension and it could come down with a force. When you get the clutch out check to see if the flywheel is scored and if so get it refaced. Its not a hard job overall but a long job IMO especially if you are lying on the floor doing it. Good luck! | | |
