They do have an eternal oil pump in the front cover. It is driven by the cam like most all v type engines of the day. Not a weak point at all. As a matter of fact it makes a pump or relief valve upgrade easier.
They're wider and heavier than a small block and more costly to rod.
If this is a nail head design, I think you will find the weight to be very similar to a small block, maybe a little lighter, width about the same but a touch longer.
If you're dead set on using Buick, go with the 455, it's externally identical to the 350 but a whole lot more cubes,
