For testing purposes, try removing the pertronix and flamethrower, and use stock components.
This is, as said, a useful test, but only if 2 different things are true:
1. the original parts are both in excellent condition, and installed correctly
2. the replacement parts are defective, broken, worn out etc. and/or improperly installed or adjusted.
The original parts are not "better".
