i have done it on larger drills above 3/4" because they were too big for my drill dr. they did ok, cut better after than before. i think you have to be careful to keep the center on center and grind a relief in, and of course watch your angle. i have a old style drill gage, that helps. but you don't want to cut oversize holes with a off center drill. might take a little trial and error to get just right. i would hate to try i on the smaller ones. i'm not saying you are wrong or anything i guess it just depends on the person doing it. my grandfather used to sharpen all his drills by hand and i hate to say a exact job sure cuts a lot better.
