G.L. -- yes, the throttle does end up wide open, reaching down--in traffic--to pull the gas pedal back up would be an ugly thing!
I removed the oil pan to replace the gasket and must have lost that little tab. Sounds like the easiest and best thing will be to remove a pan bolt and put on a new tab--thanx Tony.
