The first block I picked up came out of a 76 Eldo. When I pulled it apart the bearings were spun. I put that one on the shelf. I then found another block on ebay. I bought it from a guy who bought if from a guy that supposedly rebuilt it with new bearings, rings, timing chain and water pump, and a MTS #5 cam. That's the block I'm using and it was pretty well as represented. The timing chain and water pump were new, the bearings and rings looked new. I took it to Engine Rebuilders out in Stone Park to have them check the clearences and they found the couple of issues. Overall not too bad. I also talked to Marty at MTS about the oil pump, he said if the case does not look grooved it should be OK to use. I'll fire it up and keep an eye on the oil pressure.
I put the rotating assembly together today and will fit the trans tomorrow.
