I can't comment about the swap, only about the motor.
IMHO this is an excellent choice for a truck. The torque range is biased to work best at low RPM, the engine is light and narrow for its size. It will pull very tall gears with a lot of weight (my 425" Coupe de Ville had 2.23 gears, weighed easily 4,500).
