I am heading out to a farm on Monday to look at a couple trucks for a posible rebuild. All are chevys ranging from 1947-1952. In talking with the farmer, he was unsure if the engines were original. I was wondering if there is any visual way to tell if the engine is an original 216 or pre 1954 235, or if it is later model straight 6 with full preasure oil system. Since I plan to use the truck regularly for work in the summer, a reliable engine would be preferable. Thanks for your help.
