Yes it will. Think about it. If the rod is so long that it reaches the top of the tank before it reaches the top of it's travel. It won't read full. With the shorter rod it will reach the top of it's travel and show full. That is exactly what I had to do with my 38 to make it read correctly when I had a universal sending unit in it. I believe you said the same thing in your previous post.
