Rusty, this has been discussed at length here before. Bout every one that has pulled their doors apart has asked the very same question. The "remote control" triangular mount IS mounted with the three screws. The early ones had the link running parallel to the opening. They were changed mid-year in '49 for what ever reason is anybody’s guess and one is as good as the other. Regardless of the reasoning, I don't think they wanted to retool the inner doorframe so it was left as is and a fiber pad was glued to the frame where the rod crosses over so it won't rattle. The link sitting at and angle was how all of the later ones were till the end of the run.
This is the way the later ones should look, yours should look like the one in the lower part of the illustration. Sounds like they sold you the parts for the later trucks. There would be no problem with using the "remote control" from the later trucks on your doors other than the direction that the handle moves to open the door.
