This is a rubber mounted bearing that is used to support the midship stub shaft (splined). Drop the rear shaft out by removing the u-bolts at the differential and slipping it forward to clear the yoke on the differential. Then remove the front shaft the same way and take the shaft to Drivetrain Industries or Driveshaft Specialists in Denver and have them inspect and replace the carrier bearing and any other parts needed. Replace the shafts by installing the front one and then the rear but be very carefull of getting it back in phase when reinstalling the slip yoke onto the slip stub. Ask the company you choose what is meant by that and they will show you. Without a press and proper inspection of the parts you are likely in for a tough go and may be in over your head depending on your skills. It is much easier to let a good shop do this repair and also a good time to replace the U joints if needed. | | |
