forgot to mention that when trying to start it will catch and die everytime. I have to hold the pedal to the floor to get it to stay lit
Sounds like a flooding condition. After you shut it down look down the carb floats. There should be no fuel running in. The fuel pressure may be too high. If so you need a pressure regulator.
