You got it. There is a hot wire on the connector to the reg. You can jump it over to the field wire with a short jumper. When you touch it & break it you will get a little blue spark. That will indicate the field circuit in the alt is good. When you run it turn off the radio & any electronic devises. Don't let the voltage go over 15 volts.
