I just soda blasted a complete engine and it worked great . The soda will not hurt anything . I also had a extremly greesy trans and I mean the stuff was a hard 3/4 --- 1 " in places in ten minutes it was clean as could be . You need to nutralise the soda afterwards other wise paint will not stick , but this part is easy and it also has a rust inhibitor in there .
The parts looked so good that I wished I could clear coat and leave like that
Soda is also great on sheet metal as no heat is generated and will not warp
