I have a 1955 235 today it started smoking and missing real bad . I have been in this carb 6 or 8 times including today . finally I think I have found the culprit . piston power ( this is the brass tube with the brass barrel on one end that fits in the upper part or the carb with the big spring in it ) it wasn't getting enough travel because of plaque in the carb body . I rolled up a piece of 220 sand paper like a funny jamaican cigarette and polished it until the barrel moved smoothly , it goes in about 1 16 th into the hole when free . after that it was running like it was touched by god ! Try it , It wont cost a thing .
