Sorry guys, when I said most economical choice going with a 292 I didn't mean fuel economy. I meant the costs of getting the various motors we've been discussing seemed to suggest 292 would be a lower cost option relative to the others whether thats rebuilding or buying one ready to drop in.
To Scott's point I agree, that the relative small amount of time I actually get to spend driving this truck I don't really care if it gets 5 mpg or 15 mpg.
But considering all the great input here I'm leaning towards the 292 based on lower cost perception and attractiveness mating to my 4x3 setup.
