yep, HotRod that's exactly what I don't want to end up with having to drive in high rpm stroking gears as the norm. So scratch the 283/327 option. If considering the 427 seems it would make sense to just go 454 for ease of finding one and availability of parts?
I have found a complete 1972 292 currently for sale at $300. Seller claims its in good tight running condition. Probably the most economical option of everything being considered.
