The vent tube... Thanks for the quick answer on that... We werent planning to start it or drive it until we have figured out all the missing pieces like that...

This is the only picture I can find in the 1955 shop manual (same engine as 56 from what I can tell...), but I havent found anything that says what this hole is, or what (if anything) should cover it... I hope it gets some kind of cover... I can understand needing a vent in this location, I'm not comfortable with it not having some kind of cover or cap:

Ignore the black plastic... Since I dont have an air-filter housing yet, and these open holes in the block and bell housing, I'm keeping the engine covered and wrapped...
