While you're suggesting the stouter T-5 I still conclude you are not going to use this as a 1-ton truck based on your tranny choice.
What are you going to do with the truck? Understanding that makes it much easier to make relevant suggestions.
I don't think I would box this frame, that steal is nearly a quarter inch thick (7/32 on an AD) and already pretty stout. Even if I'm wrong about your hauling intentions I still don't think boxing the frame is needed.
