Since e-coating was invented earlier, I did not know if someone knew about it being used by GM earlier.

Fully assembled bodies were supposedly not e-coated until the 60s. However, I have seen factory assembly-line photos of black-coated fenders being attached to unprimered bodies (GM Advance-Design/New-Design).

I'd also like to know what primer was used (the old "inquiring mind" thing, I guess).
