When I tore down my 51 bed, it was easy to tell that the wood floor was installed and the entire bed assembled before the Forester green exterior color was applied to the bed sheetmetal. It appeared that the wood floor was assembled as a unit, then the bed sheetmetal was assembled around it, then painted green. The inner bed sides below the angle strips, inner rear cross sill, and inner front panel below the wood was still in black e-coat primer.
