I thought that the GM electrical switch was a brown-bodied up-down thumb switch that mounts under the dash. That type of switch might have a brown or ivory thumb-switch.

Here is the picture of the switch. It is between the defroster cable and the steering column, mounted so that it is pulled down to operate. It is just one speed, I think.
