In order to get a lettle more speed I plan to install a 261 with a 5831A spicer auxiliary trans (27% over drive). I also have a new process 5 speed which gives me a better gear range. The sm420 has to large a gap between 3rd and 4th gear. I currently have a PTO on the sm420 which runs the lift bed (this was a grain truck). With the new process 5 speed I would need a PTO on the driver side. I understand that to run a PTO off the auxiliary trans I would need to have the transmission in direct drive 1:1 or 5th gear. Since I didn't know what might be available in PTOs I thought I would check both the spicer and the new process. I am open to suggestions. Thank you for your efforts, Roger Pell | | |
