I've turned the dist. by hand and could feel good spring tension, and it sprung back into position fairly quickly....

I have heard to disconnect the vacuum line from the dist, and turn it to it's limit, then place your finger over the hole on the advance mechanism, and release the dist. the dist shouldn't rebound, or else you have a bad advance mechanism.

I have been having a problem with the engine dying out when I punched the throttle. I had attributed it to the accelerator pump, but I suppose it might be the distributor... Most likely a little of A and a little of B

This is more involved than I thought!!!
