1: I run 15/40 in my 38. If you want to run straight 20 try a farm store. Also look at the API rating. SM oil has been know to cause wear problems in flat tappet engines. Our local farm store carries some SL oils which still has zinc in it.
2: You're fine with the top end oiling. The feed line is small and there's no anti drain back valve so getting full rockers in a minute is pretty good.
