If your fuel is taking a path of least resistance then you have a carb problem. Both carbs need to be exactly alike, float settings, throttle settings, adjustments etc etc. You may need a fuel pressure regulator, but inline feeding both carbs equally.
If this set up runs good then don't mess with it.
