Good to be back. Haven't visited this board in a couple years.
I got the 57 running again. I was in the middle of a minor overhaul and then got married and and had to remodle our 120 year old house. The truck got hte short end of the stick.
it drives great now except it gives a bunch of quick back fires when I down shift and sometimes when I let my foot of the pedal. Timing maybe?
Its been timed w/ the light, but the mark jumps around a bit, New points, vac advance, fresh rebuild on orig. carb, cap, rotor, plugs plus other new things not rlated to problem.
It drives great besides that, just trying to work out the little things as they pop up.
Any ideas on that backfire.
