Hey guys, I have read the tech tips and some of the threads on installing the cardboard headliners in AD's and I still have a few questions and dont understand a couple of things. First in Jason Howard's tech tip he describes using a glass insatllation stick and running it between the top of the windshield frame and the gasket because the leading edge of the headliner goes there. I cant see in the picture but he must have the windeshield frame/windshield garnish molding on but loose at the top and then using the stick to put the cardboard under the molding. I can't see how this would be feed up and feed under the lip of the windshield gasket. I am assuming that the cardboard is actually held by the garnish molding not the rubber gasket. Second it also says to use a 50/50 water ammonia mixture to make the headliner pliable. What does the ammonia do? I have a lot of resevations about wetting the headliner and staining it. After all is'nt the reason most of these headliners need to be replaced is due to water damage? Won't the interior smell like ammonia? I have no idea I have never done one of these.
