Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 255 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 255 | I think the 47 and 48 gas tanks are hard to find. I have seen them go on e-bay for what I thought were high prices. The whole top of my 48 3/4 ton tank was rusted through with pin holes and the PO had smeared bondo over it as a patch. I cut the top away and used a doner tank to make a patch and repaired it. It took me a day to fix the tank and I wished I had spent more time cleaning out the tank, because I still get crud in the tank. I power washed it and apparently I did not get behind the baffles very well. If I replace it, I will just build a stainless tank for the same location. My 48 half ton parts truck still has the tank in it, but I dont know the condition. I dont know if the halfs and 3/4 tons are the same either. Enough rambling. Ralph | | |
