I noticed today on my 1942 235 that i was dripping some antifreeze, so i took a close look and up near the water pump area it was dripping. so i think i narrowed it down to a partially cracked thermostat housing(either it was like that or i did it from tightening) and disentigrated gasket as well. anyways i took that cracked housing right off, and noticed that around the water pump, where the pump mounts to the block the mounting plate for the pump isnt flush with the block, in other words i have a small gap(less than an 1/16 of an inch or smaller) in the top right drivers side corner of the water pump area. I can see the gasket between the pump and the mounting plate, the pump is flush with the plate, but the plate isnt necessarily flush with the block. was this the design of the engine? or do i have a bigger problem than i think. im just trying to figure out if this was where my coolant was coming from prior to me tightening the thermostat housing down. any comments let me know. thanks.,
