I keep my CDL and medical card current, even though I hven't really needed it for over 15 years. I figure it might be necessary to quit teaching school and get a real job again one of these days. Some states have a much stricter blood alcohol content level threshold for CDL holders, something that doesn't really concern me, but it might be a consideration for some people.
