This may not belong here, but since we are talking about torque tubes, here goes. I have a 57 Buick, with a Dynaflo transmission, and a torque tube. I'm not certain, but I believe at that time you could still get straight transmissions in Buicks. They would not be very common, but I think they were around. I would like to dump the Dynaflo, put in a geared transmission, and get rid of the torque tube at the same time. My question: If I am able to find a transmission that I can bolt in, is it possible to change to an open drive shaft? Since the torque tube seems to be about the only thing that holds everything together, how do I hold the rear end in place. This probably seems like a dumb question, but any help would be appreciated. Allen
