Stuart, yep all new bearings and bushings on the rear end and axle. I also rebuilt the gearbox. The okie was replaced about six months ago. The trans and rear end oil levels are ok. Actually the first thing I checked was the level in the diff in case I may have snicked the oil seal in the okie when the driveshaft was going back in.
I'm able to get a good grip on the bell. Its not that hot that I have to release my grip but as I said it is a fair bit hotter than the gearbox case. This all started as a simple replacement of the uni-joint yokes after the wee bolts came adrift and gradually got more involved the further I checked things out.
