I got around to unsticking my heat riser and now I have a question. I read every post on the subject on here and have looked at the shop manual but am still confused.

1. With the engine cold in what position should the counter weight be when you hook the spring up?

2. Does the counter weight move to towards the engine when it gets hot and if so how far? mine hits the manifold with no spring attached, should that happen?

3. When I let the counter weight drop away from the engine it has a hard stop and the. Is that open or closed?

If someone had a picture that would be even better! thanks for your help!
