My 50 1-ton GMC has a 4 bar grille and acorn nuts for the 228 cover but the bigger 47-55 GMCs had 5 cross bars and not 3. The stamped numbers on the flat area to the left of the distributor starts with engine size if GMC. And as truckernix says, GMC script is stamped into the cover. You can see the valve cover in one of my gallery photos. Look for Mike Barnes in the 1950 section if interested. For your sake I hope you have a GMC engine, my 228 is an awesome runner. Good luck!
