Got the new truck home on Thursday night. I love it!
I've already started to tear it apart. Working on the rear main seal now - another post -
Here is what I need to get it running.
It has a new starter, coil & good battery.
Rear main leaks (original rope seal).
15 year old gas in the tank. I am glad though it was full. I'd rather clean out gunk gas than have the tank be rusty.
Need to blow some carb cleaner through the fuel lines & rebuild the carb. Previous owner (thanks Tony) gave the the rebuild kit.
Master cylinder needs new seals - again provided by PO with the sale.
Missing ignition switch. Funny thing - I was told it was hot wired somehow but didn't take too close of a look figuring a wire harness isn't that much anyway. Turns out to be a paper clip jumping two sides of the plug to light the coil. All I need is the switch & I'm good to go.
Of course you all know - once I get it running & on the road is when all the real work begins. It needs new corners - passenger door skin & lower quarter.
Drivers window is rusted in place (lucky it is up). I will power wash the belly & brush on POR 15 to stop any issues from the bottom up & then decide if I want to paint it or just hit it with a satin clear coat to protect the metal, but keep the "old" patina of the worn out paint. Of course these things will take place in later years than this one.
First things first - get out the old rope seal....
