Im not exactly sure of the years the 5.43 was listed, but I know it could be swapped in a multitude of different rears. I went through three axles (1941, 1947.1, 1953) and a stack of NOS parts before I had enough to rebuild the rear end in my COE. All of those axles had 6.17 ratios.
Ive seen the same rear end in the local junk yard under a 1960-66 Chevrolet 1.5 ton, but Id guess the internals were probably different.
