since we are on the subject of water pumps. i replaced the 235 in my 54 with one from a 62. i ordered a short shaft pump so it would fit in the engine compartment etc. i used the thermostat housing from the original 235 so i could fit the top hose on without making a mod. etc to get to the radiator. my problem is that it heats up when i run it through the heater which is clean and obstruction free. cools fine when i by pass the heater and go straight from the pump to the block. i did all this before i found this website. now seeking what i need to redo. any suggestions? (new 4lb cap/and proper thermostat and rad has been cleaned).
